Chaos defeats DE 3-2 in OT in 1st round of Hayvenhurst tournament

Before a paltry attendence of 72K fans (the daylight was a factor, no doubt), Chaos defeats the DE 3-2 in OT. Chaos Theory also racked up an artery splitting 7-0 casualty rate, against their nimble foes.

In a nut shell, Chaos could do no wrong in this game. They seirously p3wned the DE. Graeme really tried hard to overcome, but Nuffle smiled on Chaos, who ended up losing more rerolls on Illegal Procedures then they actually used in the game. The DE were cursed with some strategic 1's, which would then open themselves up for a spate of hurt from Chaos.

In addition to the 7 cas that earned SPP, there was 1 more by a foul, and one more by a chainsaw. Two self inflicted, and 2 ejections on the DE for fouling.

Of the 11 cas suffered by the DE team, eight of them were SI, and 3 were badly hurts. If they had won, they could have fielded only six players in the next round.

Graeme put up a heck of a stuggle, and it took OT for me to get it done. The only strategy that I employed that worked was to be really nasty against this team. I fouled, pushed them out of bounds, piled on (once when there was only 3 players left on the pitch), took 2d blocks over ball control, Chainsawed them (once defensivly!) etc.

I really wanted to win this game and went to extreme lengths to pound the DE's down (Graeme, please bring those purple and brown dice up with you on Sat! ":^). It was like a script was unfolding. Graeme threw one pass, and after he rolled his pass, I mentioned that I had an Interception attempt. He agreed and I promptly intercepted the ball.

In many ways I advanced to the next round due to some poor dice rolls by my opponent, and not my mad skillz.

Graeme will correct me if I'm wrong, but He and I believe that Silas' standing order on Apothocary use, was detremintal to the teams ability to win this game.

Silas requested that his apothocaries not be used for any BHs or MNG cas, unless it was crucial. The 1st casualty he suffered was a MNG on Lloth (turn 1), his best WE. Graeme wanted to use one of the apothocaries and I prevented him from doing so based on Silas' standing orders. In retrospect, Silas and Graeme should have talked before the game, to come up with a "What if?" game plan.

Lloth is such a dominating player that her removal was a huge boon to Chaos Theory. Silas also left instructions to call on any permenant injuries and that was done, until both apothocaries were used. In the mean time though both WE, the dirty player, and the Linelf with Guard, were sent to the locker room.

At least all MNGs will clear for this team before they play their next match.

  • I only have a couple minutes at the airport, but an apothecary on the Witch Elf would only have resulted in her being the next casualty, and then possibly more seriously.

In the end, this game probably hurt the team more than helped, but all in all I will come out in one pieve after healing 2 injuries at the end of round (most likely -STR and one of the -MV).

P.S: I'm glad Chaos get to go on in the tournament and that my team had a chance to perform. If they continue with they're casualty total though, they will have an easy tourney victory repeat.

  • The Chaos strategy was to target the Witch Elves and Lloth was #1 on the hit parade.
